How Vantage Fit works on Android and iPhone

Updated May 12, 2026 Employee

The core Vantage Fit experience is the same on Android and iPhone. You get the same 65+ activity types, challenges, leaderboards, wallet, social feed, training plans, and other Vantage Fit features. A few setup details differ because each platform handles health data and background updates in its own way.

Step Source and Health Data

Android iOS
Step source Google Fit, Fitbit, Garmin, or another supported Android device selected in Vantage Fit Apple Health
Health imports Health Connect may be used for supported health data such as workouts, sleep, and heart rate Apple Health shares supported health data with Vantage Fit
Setup Select your step source and grant the requested permissions Grant Vantage Fit permission to read from Apple Health

Tip: On Android, steps usually come from Google Fit unless you connect Fitbit, Garmin, or another supported device source in Vantage Fit.

Background Syncing

Vantage Fit updates your steps automatically from your connected step source. Opening the app also refreshes your latest step count.

On Android, phone battery settings can affect background updates. If your latest steps look delayed, open Vantage Fit once and check the battery settings below.

On iPhone, Vantage Fit reads step updates from Apple Health.

Battery Optimization (Android Only)

Android phones include battery settings that help extend battery life. If Vantage Fit is restricted, step updates may be delayed while the app is closed.

How to fix it:

  1. Open your phone's Settings
  2. Go to Battery (or Battery & performance)
  3. Find Vantage Fit in the app list
  4. Set it to Unrestricted (or disable battery optimization for it)

The exact steps vary by manufacturer:

Manufacturer Path
Samsung Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → remove Vantage Fit from sleeping/deep sleeping apps
Xiaomi / Redmi Settings → Battery → App battery saver → Vantage Fit → No restrictions
Huawei / Honor Settings → Battery → App launch → Vantage Fit → toggle off auto-manage
OnePlus Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → Vantage Fit → Don't optimize

Tip: If your steps seem stuck or have not updated in a long time, setting Vantage Fit to Unrestricted mode fixes it in most cases.

The apps look and feel slightly different in their navigation:

  • Android uses a bottom sheet (swipes up from the bottom) for the main navigation drawer
  • iOS uses a side drawer (slides in from the left)

Both give you access to the same features — just through a different gesture.

Wearable and Device Support

Both platforms support a wide range of wearables, but the specific options differ:

Android device options:

  • MI Band / Amazfit
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch
  • PlayFit
  • Redmi Watch
  • Realme Watch
  • Honor Band
  • Noise Fit
  • Custom-named devices
  • Supported Android watches and bands

iOS device options:

  • Apple Watch (connects automatically)
  • Fitbit (via HealthKit)
  • Garmin (via HealthKit)
  • Any wearable that writes to Apple Health

Note: Samsung Watch is an Android-only option. Apple Watch is an iPhone-only option.

Workout Import

Both platforms let you import workouts from external sources:

  • Android imports from Health Connect — any wearable or fitness app that writes workout data to Health Connect
  • iOS imports from Apple Health — Apple Watch workouts plus any HealthKit-connected app or wearable

The imported data (distance, duration, calories, heart rate) feeds into your Vantage Fit activity log and challenge progress.

Vehicle Detection

During GPS-tracked workouts, Vantage Fit may stop the workout if movement looks like vehicle travel. This helps keep challenge results fair. See What Does the Vehicle Detection Warning Mean? for details.

Language Settings

  • Android 12+ — supports per-app language selection in system Settings → Apps → Vantage Fit → Language
  • iOS — supports per-app language in Settings → Vantage Fit → Language (iOS 16+)
  • Android 11 and below — the app follows your device's system language (no per-app option)

Both platforms support the same 13 languages.
