Wheelchair Mode is an accessibility feature in Vantage Fit that adapts the app's workout tracking for wheelchair users. When enabled, a dedicated "Wheelchair" workout type becomes available in your activity options, letting you track routes, distance, and pace just like any other GPS workout.
How to Enable Wheelchair Mode
- Open the drawer menu and tap Settings.
- Find Wheelchair Mode in the settings list.
- Toggle it on.
That's it — the Wheelchair workout type is now available in your activity options.
Using the Wheelchair Workout Type
Once Wheelchair Mode is enabled:
- Tap the Plus (+) button or go to Start Activity.
- Select Wheelchair from the workout type list.
- Tap Start to begin tracking.
- The app uses GPS to track your:
- Route — mapped on screen as you move
- Distance — total distance covered
- Pace — your speed over time
- Tap Stop when you're done, then Save the workout.
The Wheelchair workout tracks the same data as other GPS workout types like running, walking, and cycling — you get a full route map, distance metrics, and pace information.
Tip: Make sure location permissions are enabled for Vantage Fit so GPS tracking works accurately during your workout.
Step Tracking with Wheelchair Mode
Enabling Wheelchair Mode doesn't affect how step tracking works. Steps are still recorded from your phone's motion sensors or your connected wearable (Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, etc.).
- If your wearable or phone detects motion that registers as steps, those steps still count
- Step-based challenge tasks continue to work normally
- The Wheelchair workout type is an additional tracking option, not a replacement for step tracking
Apple Watch Integration
If you use an Apple Watch, wheelchair workouts recorded on the watch can be imported into Vantage Fit. The Wheelchair workout type is a supported import type from Apple Watch, so your watch-tracked wheelchair sessions sync into the app alongside other workout imports.
Challenges and Wheelchair Mode
Wheelchair workouts count toward challenge tasks that track distance or active minutes. For example:
- A challenge task requiring 5 km of activity would count distance from a Wheelchair workout
- A challenge task requiring 30 minutes of exercise would count time from a Wheelchair workout
Step-based challenge tasks are tracked separately through your device's step counter, regardless of Wheelchair Mode status.
Who is Wheelchair Mode For?
Wheelchair Mode is designed for anyone who uses a wheelchair as their primary mode of mobility and wants to:
- Track their daily routes and distances
- Participate in workplace wellness challenges
- Log workouts that accurately reflect their activity type
- Have their movement recorded in a way that's meaningful to them
